could there be a clip holding the pinion gear in place?
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

There is a U shaped clip to be removed before you can get the rotor off

It's inside the reel right next to the pinion gear

Part number 35 shown on the schematic. Remove the grease pull it out. The rotor and pinion gear will come out together

Thank you all.  I'll give that a try.

Thanks for all the help.  I was able to take the reel apart and clean it.  I'm about to start greasing the internals.  There are no bearing inside of it.  Is it safe to presume that grease could be used on all moving parts in this reel then?

I found that the washer listed as part number 40 here appears to be three washers and not one?  Has anyone seen this?  Two are thinner and appear to be brass, which I believe they go on opposes sides to the steel washer (see photo).

very common; order of shims doesn't matter -- only total thickness of stack
extra shims may have been added during manufacture, to compensate for tolerance fluctuations,
OR may have been added during subsequent service, to compensate for gear-tooth wear

Thank you for that reply.  Any suggestions on my questions regarding using grease on all the internals?  There are no bearings on this model.

Thanks,

Matt

Use oil on the pinion gear bushing.
