Hi guys,
thanks to this beautiful forum more times I solved my reel problems, so I try again to ask.
I just don maintenance to my Stella 10000SW after last fishing trip (last year) and feel it sticky when I run the handle; it seems like I'm retrieving a lure in the whater while fishing.
I don't understand why, I oiled and gresed all component, all sounds ok, if I run the reel without the rotor, the reel spins good, but when I put on the rotor the reel becomes sticky; as more I tighten the screw as more it runs hard.
I opened and serviced a Stella 20000SW too, its mechanics is 90% same as 10000SW, checked all components for both and didn't see defferences; so I don't understand why the 10000 is not good. Also all bearings for 10000 seem ok.
IN the movie you can see how easy the 20000 spins and how instead the 10000 is more slowed down.
Any tips about what could I check again?

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the components against the schematics?  I am thinking something like a shim out of place on the bearing behind the AR.  Tightening the rotor nut must be moving the pinion gear against something.  Is the friction ring seated right down on the body, there is a groove that it sits in?  I had a Daiwa Saltiga that a customer got back from a factory service that had the ring seated above the groove sitting against the upper ring, same symptom as yours.

thanks for your reply Reel Clean, would you explain what ring are you meaning from the schematics? For what I see until now, all seems ok, but obviously  I'm not checking well  .Shimano Stella SW 09STL10000SW.pdf

Part 12435 on the schem.  There is a ridge on the front of the body just forward of the flange and I have seen the friction ring located forward of the groove instead of against the body flange.  Also make sure the ring is fully seated behind part 12436.  Is the friction ring in good condition?  I have seen them swell/perish.
It still doesn't sound right with the friction increasing as you tighten the rotor nut, that still sounds like something out of place around the spool shaft/AR area.  You have double checked the condition of the bearings on that shaft?  Especially side loading them while spinning to check for damaged races.

I'd say clean and very lightly oil the antireverse mechanism in the first instance.

After that, next culprit is probably the pinion bearing.

Reel Clean has it right.
If the rubber has swelled by oil it will turn to a sticky gooey

Assemble the reel completely. Then you will know if it's the friction ring or a shim.

Thanks for you answer guys, at last I found the problem: not the rubber gasket, not a pignon/bearing problem, but a stupid circlip back to rollerclutch 12430 that rotated added a very light spessor, like on picture.
I disassembled also my Stella 20000SW but all was like the 10000SW, except at the roller clutch cover, lightly rised; that's why the problem appeared only tightening the rotor screw.
Now the reel run smoothly  ;D

ps: do someone know what is the withe tool used to easily remove the rollerclutch with pins in this movie?

No idea, that has to be some Shimano factory tool and I doubt it's available to the public.

Yeah, that roller retainer is keyed and only fits in one position.  It had to be something under the rotor out of place, glad you worked it out!
There is no factory tool  I have found for sale, just fine tipped tweezers (demagnetized!) and a lot of patience, although a glass of single malt has been known to assist in suppressing the natural urge to throw the lot at the wall!  That tool looks like it is probably a factory tool for initial assembly on the line?  If you search you can sometimes find the odd Shimano tool online; I just managed to buy two Stella rear drag cover removers from Japan Tackle and Plat. They weren't cheap. :-(  And don't start me on the bluddy Daiwa tools for MQ bodies;  only two to go unless Daiwa decide to make a 5th different size!
