I have bought a couple of Walker reels recently, models 2000 and 2200, they seem to be identical to some Herter's I also bought recently, just labeled differently. Japanese production, 1960s-70s-ish. My question pertains not to the reels so much as who was Walker?  Was it a sporting goods store?  Where was it located? Any insights from the gurus on this site?

Jarvis Walker is an Aussie tackle company that's been around since the late '40s/early '50s.
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)

I wondered about that, but I was under the impression that they branded everything with his first and last name, not just Walker.

I have a Jarvis Walker rod somewhere in the garage, bought it from a guy in Cape Coral FL, he buys liquidations and out of business sales and resells rods out of his garage.
