I took Bryan's 410 fishing yesterday & mounted it on a Fenwick Eagle rod that one of my 300s is mounted on. Surprisingly this was the 3rd rod I tried to mount the 410 on,assuming the 410 foot would be identical to a 300  :o  The other 2 modern rods were not even close to being wide enough. It did fit on the Fenwick eagle but was very uncomfortably tight.

Any suggestions on a modern rod where there is not an issue without going saltwater size? I prefer 6.5' med/heavy
for this size reel.

I don't have the 410 but my 300A fit fine on all rod with Fuji handle even smallest #16 ,won't fit on the new chinese handle for a little rod that I cut off thread on handle

I put the micrometer on each foot

410=16.7mm
300=16 mm

Take your 410 into Wal-Mart.

I was in one last week, and they had some really nice Wright-McGill Eagle Claws (good rods!) —- really cheap.

Ugly Stiks are very capable also.

One of the unprinted disclaimers on 300/400 sized Mitchells is the width of the foot on the reels for matching to a spinning rod.  I have around 400-500 Mitchells in crates —- and more than a few have filed feet.

Yes Eagle Claw has always been a fav of mine, especially the yellow ones.The only combo my dad bought for himself was an ABUmatic 290 mounted on a yellow EC rod. It still works flawlessly,our local walmart stopped selling them & the last I found locally were at Academy Sports.They stopped selling them as well.They had metal reel seats back in 2005.I wish I had more of them now for times like this.I have ordered EC from Walmart & Amazon when the price is right.The yellow BPS rods are too flimsy IMO.

Any machine is a smoke machine if you use it wrong enough.

Just build one. Save money and get exactly what you want.

Falcon makes good rods, think that will work out well..

wanted a new rod for my old Mitchell 308 and there really aren't any, instead now using it on an older Browning Silaflex fiberglass rod, and it's great..

I have one of my DQ 220s on a 5' BnM Little Lucy fiberglass
It does have a different feel,& is only for live bait.

I do prefer mucho graphite for lures

I need to do that Jason

A few years ago I found these Booyah frog combos at Walmart on clearance fer $7 each. My mother bought all the men in the family one for Christmas.  I kept one & It's been in the shop attic 5 years collecting dust. The frogs alone cost $7 now. The 410 fits the rod perfectly.

Looks like a good bass fishing outfit. Other than frogs, the attached picture shows my most successful bait at the local TX ponds.

It's a white double willow blade spinnerbait combined with a Sexy Shad colored Strike King Rage swimbait.  Separately the bites are few.  For some reason when combined the strikes are more than double.

I can't take credit for the combination. I won a bid on a lot of spinnerbaits and a couple of them came with swimbaits.

One day, out of curiosity I tried it out and first cast nabbed a 2-lb bass.  Second toss another bass and I was hooked.   :fish

If I were a bass I would bite it ;D
