50/50 transmission oil+acetone

i bought a couple of reels off ebay
they were shockers,gd cond;blah blah
rust,gunk,etc;
he even painted it and put it back together still wet.
somebody mention 50/50trans oil+acetone.
well this was the time to try it.
undid what i could,dropped the lot in a1/2 filled bucket
left it all overnight.
it worked! i got it all cleaned up today and working.amazing,
here is a shot of whats left of the torpedeo knob.
good riddance,was going to throw it away
be careful what you use it on

The good thing about it, that handle knob will never slip out of your hand ;)

That was me.  Acetone eats paint and plastic, I only use it on metal parts that are corroded together.
