Guys: It takes a long time and a sharp learning curve to get to the point that Alan has reached.  Look at all the sites where guys lament the competition on the boat to the point that some long range trips are labeled "combat fishing."  Go back and read the post on everything you need to know about the trip that Alan composed.  I searched back a couple of years where Alan posted a "what worked and what didn't work" list on one of his long range trips.  I could not find it but if someone here can find it post the link.  Alan is giving you the benefit of his experience.  If I were going on this trip I would show up with 3 rods and reels, some hooks and some irons and relax and let the trip play out.  Good luck and tight lines guys.  I am going to try to get to San Diego to meet the boat.  It should be great fun to meet you guys.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Learning from a bunch of calm, technical fisherman (and women) is a big draw.  Catching big fish is hard!

I went out of Capitola on one of the small rental boats with my wife and kids last summer.  I'd been out there before, scouting locations.  That time, I checked the tide & waves, air temp, set up the rods and reels, hooked the bait, and handed off to the kids (5 and 3 at the time).  Of course they caught fish and my wife says, "What's so hard about fishing?"

Where to begin?  And that was easy fishing!

Dominick, maybe let's make the trek together if I can get away.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D
