Levelwind bearing upgrade?

I had a 6500 CT and initially I was all excited about increased distance low maintenance yada yada. All I got was more blow ups. These little reels are very sensitive to line lay. I fish a lot at night and the amount of blow ups was not worth the distance.

Once I got my 6500 CL I noted the distance loss was so minimal it wasn't worth the blowups. In fact the final blowup on that reel casting a rigged eel caused me to take a flop on a jetty and dislocate my left shoulder. That was the end of both the 6500 CT and my jetty jumping days.

I assume if I hot rod the CL to a six bearing system I will likely gain back the additional distance. I use the reel for fishing not distance casting. As it is the reel is pretty empty once I throw a bait anyhow.
