Split ring pliers

Hi Guys,

After seeing how much you all rate the Texas tackle split ring pliers, I managed to find a supplier here in the U.K.

Bought a pair and they certainly are the best, the extended bottom jaw makes all the difference, the usual type sold everywhere here, with the same length jaws, just don't compare.

Mine also came from Chicos Lures, they seem to be the only stockist in the U.K.

I got the large pair, will see how I go, might get a small pair in the future.

I managed to score a used pair for $14. They haven't arrived yet but I hope they're as good as the hype suggests!

A lot of split ring pliers will work on light rings and light wire hooks.

But the Texas Tackle are inexpensive and work as well or better than any others in opening quality split rings like Owner Hyperwire very wide to get them on 4x heavy hooks. This is when the rubber meets the road and the TT pliers are dreamy.

They don't work on tiny split rings (ie little freshwater stuff). Should be fine for nearly any salt application but the "nose" is fairly wide and won't go inside the smallest split rings.

I have and use all three sizes. These are my pocket pliers. I also love my HPA pliers.

The largest size is for the biggest split rings. They don't always grip the medium rings to spin the ring around very well. If you look on Amazon under Texas Tackle you will see the orange handle (small), the green handle (large) and the blue handle extra large, extra heavy, tuna model. The blue handle is for the heaviest split rings like Owner #11's. The green handle is probably the most versatile.

I emailed Texas Tackle last week, wanting to upgrade my split ring pliers, I asked about the sizes available, here is their response.

      "...I have 4 sizes...they're all 5" in except smallest which is 4""
