Hell, I'm looking for a reasonable upgrade for a bit more cranking power on a 27sh or h not exactly sure because its my friends. It's not worth spending much on it, just curious if anybody had an option.
Thanks, Geo.

Fishysmell!

Got you covered -as so many of this site's members have done for me.

This 27H was my "Gateway Drug" to begin on this site, and I too found the stock handle, at times, left me panting like a humped-over Squirrel!

But with Alan's handle purchase, and Lee's CNC milling work, we fixed the issue and this is one of my go-to-reels for local Rockfish & Lingcod.

Good luck to you.

The Daiwa 27H, 30H, and 170H all have varying part numbers but I know that the handle sections are interchangeable between the 30H and 170H and I STRONGLY suspect that the 27H is the same. Do you have a Penn reel that has a "Type A" handle? Check here:
https://www.mysticparts.com/PennParts/Parts/24N-310.aspx

If it is a "YES" to the Type A question, then just compare the 27H gear sleeve hole to the Type A's. If the two flat sides match up then I suspect the rounded ends on the 27H's hole will be slightly bigger as the 30H's and 170H's were. You will need to just rework the Type A's rounded ends equally with needle files until it fits on to the 27H's gear sleeve. The result will be similar to the pic midway down this page:

The handle I used is the plastic molded T-bar found here:

These guys also have some handle upgrades available (inexpensive):

I have not tried any of the Diawa Power Handles, but have ordered other parts from them in the past and was happy with the service.
