good sized grass rockfish

the rockfish ninja

I usually wouldn't take such a healthy fish, and release it to hopefully reproduce, but he took the hook deep.
Surf fishing the Marin coast, Avet SX/Daiwa emcast rod/small lizardfish bait/almost 19"/just under 5lbs/great fish&chips that night.

Taking a rockfish while surffishing... That's almost an oxymoron... 

Great catch!  Next week I'm going after the reds!

That's mainly what I do, lose a lot of hooks/etc in the rocks, but it works, with a few strategies.

I even yank good size ones from piers at times, didn't measure this one but you know the size of pier planks. Just a strategy thing to target them.
