I read one of Alan's write ups on the mak 10 2 speed.  He mentioned this reel could be used for 60 lb.?  Just curious as I know it is a 50 but for tuna would 60 be a too much?  Thank you in advance..robert

you get a tremendous amount of drag with this reel.  when the thinner spectras come out, i think they would be good for an 80# topshot.
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

I use 50lb on my Mak 10s and it seems a good middle ground  of strength vs. capacity. Given that pretty much all spectra lines over test in some cases by a big margin fishing 50lb with a 60lb drag setup would be ok. If your line is too thick the reel capacity will suffer badly and lets face it the difference in drag between 50lb and 60lb probably wont make that much difference. If you are fishing for seriously big Tuna I would go for a bigger reel, I have a Mak 20 loaded with 80lb that might be a better bet.

Mak 15 (60lb) closer to camera and the 10 (50lb) in the short corner position

Have fun Jeremy

Thank you and that makes sense.  I will keep the 10 at 50 lbs. as I do have a 16 for 80 lb. and a talica 16 for 60 lbs.

Thanks. Robert
