Hello everyone,
Very new to this trying to finish my first strip down and rebuild but can not get over one hump? Its a Penn 113 and I've looked t diagrams and everything seems to be in place according but once its all screwed in I can not get the free spool button to click down easily? It almost looks as tho it pushes the piece up in a raised fashion and there's nowhere for it to go? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like an assembly issue. Don't force it anymore, you'll need to break it down again and start all over.
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

RUSTY OLD COLT

It sounds like the eccentric and its spring are placed incorrectly.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

The tabs on the eccentric jack should face down so they can push the yoke toward the side plate. There should be a plastic post that the slot in the jack fits over. Bob

I have found it easiest for me to intall the eccentric lever first and once it is tighened down to then place the spring into its notch on the side plate. Trying to set the spring first never works for me.

Going by diagrams the eccentric pin seems to be installed correctly and does push in the downward position?
Can't mess with it tonight but definitely will try your ideas tomorrow.
Thanks again

There is a slot in the side plate that makes sure the eccentric goes in only one way. That's an easy fix. ;)

sometimes the eccentric spring is sticking up too high and snags on the jack.  grind it down with a dremel and it should clear, if that is the problem.
