My everyday carry. Love these knives but I wish I knew how to properly sharpen these unique serrations.

One of my knives that gets used the most is this Opinel No 8 - I bought it back in the late 80s for around 10 bucks and used mainly for gutting red-fellow-sika and doing the leg cuts to carry them out whole . Its so small and light in a leather pouch attached to my belt i don't notice i"m even carrying it and even gets used on the odd fishing trip .

This Svikin Damascus knife I purchased for myself as a camp knife and if I ever come across any Sambar deer it just might come in handy .

and a close up of the blade.

this is my EDC for work and for boat projects.
ESEE Zancudo.
love this thing.
I'll post my other knives later.

Shiftee, I lightly use a chain saw file to sharpen my serrated blades. Then polish them with a dremmel and rouge to remove any scratch marks.
Not all fishing is done with rod and reel.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot. I have a sharpening stone for standard serrations but these are kinda sweeping and concave. Your method sounds like it will work.

Is that your only ESEE? I've been looking at the ESEE 5 lately and trying to decide between it, the Tops B.O.B and Benchmade Bushcrafter 162. Wondering how people felt about their fixed blades.

yeah, it's my only ESEE, but I can see myself getting more of their stuff. Of those knives that you listed above I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. Those three are actually three of my favorites in the fixed blade bushcraft types. Get all of them and then post pics for us!

Not exactly knives, but blades never the less.

A local storage locker buyer found two of these in a locker she purchased.  The original owners name is engraved in the blade(s).  He was the captain of a destroyer in the early 60s.  She contacted the family and they had no use for them so she sold them to me.  The commander died in the late 70s.

Who has 'no use' for two USN presentation swords that belonged to grandpa?

Anyhow, I call these three Pretty Maids.  The USN naval sword is patterned after the 1852 Foot Officers sword which was carried by Union and Confederate officers during the war.

Three of 20 or 25 swords I gathered over the years.  If we want to talk bayonets, I can post pix all day.

So many reels, so little time.

Haha I wish I could afford to. My favorite fixed blades are Spartan Blades, I just can't afford them at all. If I had the spare $500 laying around I'd probably pick their Harsey II for a bush knife... their fighting knives are incredible too https://spartanbladesusa.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5&products_id=104

I was digging in my hunting gear the other night when Wayne was freeloading some fish soup.  Well maybe not freeloading because he brought the wine.  The subject got on to knives and sharpening.  I dug out my diamond sharpener.  Wayne showed me his (his is longer).  I remembered this thread so I thought I would post some pictures before I put them away.  Dominick

The small knife is a pocket Buck that I usually always have in my pocket.  The other knife is my skinning and gutting knife(blade is 3 1/2 inches).  I bought it 57 years ago.  There was a company name and made in Finland printed on the blade but that has rubbed off over the years.  It has gutted and skinned about 30 deer.  It does not lose its edge very easily.  it is one great knife.  I have another on somewhere (I bought two) but I can't find the other.

I thought I would back the camera up and show Broadway Dom's drawing in the background.

Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

That's a nice pic Dominick, I didn't know you were a butcher on the side, did the hunters bring you the deer or did you go get them ;D.

What's that Perillo's book about?

That is a nice knife buddy ;).
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Shiftee,
What kind of knife is that on top of the body armor?

Holy Moly Dominck!
Talk about laying a landmine based on the site's 12 yr. old rule!!!!

YES, I find myself heading over to his home 2-3 times a week for a splash of wine and some chat time.  He lives just a block down the local highway.

BTW, everytime I walk into their home, Man, what ever Dominick is cooking, it smells fantastic!

WHY Dom and his wife, Linda, don't both weigh 400 lbs. each is beyond me!!!

YES, I did stop by for some Wahoo & Shrimp soup, and we enjoyed it with some white wine from Spain, a longtime friend send me some to enjoy, and I enjoy wine with those do enjoy the same!

Dominick, FOCUS!    we need to get back to business and plan out our next Baja trip!  This last visit was our most enjoyable when it comes to the number of fish species and the size of fish we caught!

Wayne

Never let the skinny guys make the sandwiches!!  NEVER!!!!

That is a Hornbook.  Calamari and Perillo on Contracts.  They are experts in the law of contracts.  I keep that book because we sometimes forget the basics.  Contracts and the breaches thereof have basic elements that must be observed.  It's an interesting book.  Dominick
