This is certainly not the biggest fish I ever caught, but it is the biggest fish I ever caught in 300 feet of water, using 30# spiderwire on a Mitchell Spidercast SC3000 reel, and medium action 6 1/2 foot Spidercast rod.  Took forever to get it off the bottom.  The rod butt and tip were within an inch or two of each other most of the time.  The captain of the boat was a little miffed at me for taking too long to reel it in.  He got over it when he saw the fish.  64 hour trip, September, 2001.

If the fish doesn't look that big, imagine that I am 6'4"  230lbs.
So many reels, so little time.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.
