A clean well organized work bench is the sign of a sick mind.   :D  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Now I know why your bench is spotless Domenico. ;)

I see you mentioned HT-100's greased with Shimano drag grease.
Beware that after a real hard run on your drags, the washers will glaze to a shiny solid disc.
It happened to me and I found out later that it happened to a few other fishermen too.
I swapped out all my 113H drag washers to Carbontex's after that.
I am not sure if this subject was mentioned here in the forums before.
Sorry for getting of topic.

This is news to me. They are both made of carbon Fiber, Whats the difference? I have HT-100's in most of my reels, and haven't had a problem. All CF drags will glaze over eventually. I now custom cut mine from laminated sheet. Mostly .120.

Haven't noticed on my reels :-\.
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Beautiful dream shop! I too noticed glazing, especially on under gear ht-100's like the four stack Newell's. changing those out all the time!
The rail is your friend, no zing pow, on the iron wenches, I like broccoli!

This is just my opinion, but there is a major difference between greasing the drags and not.  The reels that I maintain for a charter captain/friend of mine without grease glaze over much faster than with grease.  I'm not speaking about Shimano grease as I've never used it on drags before, but this is the case with Cal's for sure.  If you have a bunch of big runs and a lot of heat build up they glaze much quicker.
Again, not a fact, just my opinion and experience.
Thanks
Dom

I haven't taken a real hot run on the carbontex drags since then. Nothing like how my HT's went through. But I did hear that the HT's and the carbontex are not exactly the same in composition.
This info about the glazing came from a legitamate tackle shop owner when I mentioned it to him.
I don't know how similar Shimano and Cal's are either..

nice shop!  for drag washers, i'm happy with anything made of carbon fiber.  for drag grease, shimano or cal's is fine.  inox makes something too, but i'm not as familiar with it.  any combination of any carbon fiber drag washer with any pure teflon grease is going to work better than anything stock in these older reels.

Its done.
I took used drag washers from the Penn 113 4/0.
I made bigger holes in them so the washers could be easily placed on the bridge.
The reel is fully operational.
One more to my collection-)))
