What upgrades can I make to this reel?

Upgrade Drags?  which one is the best?

Is it possible to add a Dawg?

I would like to make this a granny gear reel.  I know the older saltiest offered a 4.9:1 gear.  Is it possible to replace the 6.4:1?

the new daiwa's already have greased carbon fiber drags.  just get a light coat of grease on the inside of the reel and upgrade the handle grip if so inclined.

I don't know about adding a 2nd dog to this reel. As far as converting the reel back to the 4.9 to 1 gear ratio you will need a new main & pinion gear, new r side bearing, & a new spool. Another upgrade you can do is to replace the 2 spool bearings with ceramic bearings from smooth drag.
