Hi everyone,

I just bought myself a second hand Fin-Nor Santiago 130. I couldn't seem to find any info on the forum, so I was just wondering if anyone has done a rebuild, know anyone that has or maybe even somewhere else that a rebuild has been documented?
I can't see myself having any difficulties but it's always nice to follow along with someone elses steps the first time you open up a new reel.

Kind regards,
Josh

they are big reels.  i've never opened one and i don't think it would be that hard, but there could also be traps in this one.  proceed with caution.
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

I've some a smaller...i think it was a 50.  If i recall, the reassembly between the shaft/pinion gear needed to go in to the drive sideplate first then the frame slides on afterwards.   I just cannot remember without actually taking the reel apart.  Sorry.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

I have serviced a few of the 80s.  The turorials on the other smaller FinNor conventionals should be adequate to guide you through the process.  Download the proper schematic and crack we open.  Take your time and lay the parts out in order, pay special attention to Belleviles config,  the placement of any shims, and the orientation of asymmetrical washers/parts.  These reels are built with relatively tight tollerances, and have a steep aggressive cam with high max drags.  If you pack the bearings with grease and convert drag to wet, be aware your freespool will likely particularily suffer in this model.  The close spacing also leaves less room to shim if needed.  I had intended to do a tutorial on the 80 but just didn't have enough time when I had them.  Find somewhere to supply parts and be aware that you may have to have em shipped to you.  I'd guess you'll want a new set of Bellevilles, and may need a pinion and right spool bearing.  If you run into any trouble just ask (pics help too).  Good luck!

Here's a link to the schematic if anyone else is chasing it. You can get the schematic for all the models here too.
