Does anybody make a ball bearing conversion for Jigmasters? I've got Newell's high-speed (5:1) gears on order for the reel and would like to replace the stock bearings with ball bearings.

The 505 and 506 were the Jigmasters with bearings. I am not aware of any conversion kits.
The 505 and 506 died when Penn came out with the 525, 535, 545, 555 series which are pretty nice reels;
great casters, big drags, and easy to change gear ratios via a small kit.

I looked at PennParts to convert a 500 to a 505 and it would be pretty pricey; there aren't that many compatible parts. That's what made me think of just a bearing conversion.

sorry, no.  i think you're better off staying with bushings anyway!  alan
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

I didn't think about fewer moving parts ;) in a bushing to go bad. Good point! High speed gears and screaming bushings - Y-e-e-e-e-e-e-h-a-a-a-a!!  :o :o

Thanks Alan.
