Maxell Transformer F30c
Sold in New Zealand with a 5 year warranty
9+2 ball bearings
  5.3to 1 gear ratio
400m 30lb (pe)
10kg max drag at strike 20kg max
Weight 400grms

There has been a lot of talk about similarities between Maxel and Jigging master
Judge for Yourself
This is a little powerhouse. Tested way above max drag using my methods

Undo side plate screws using t5 driver (tool provided)

Separate spool and side plate from frame

View of clicker and cast control

Remove Drag knob cover (key 627)

Tighten drag and hold handle to remove Spool shaft screw (key 933)
I used an insulated electrician's screwdriver as the handle rotates it traps against driver shaft and aids in 'cracking' the screw NB Mark direction of line on spool to aid in reassembly

Remove Drag tension Knob (key 547)

Showing drag tension Knob and preprogram cam (key 649 646)
And drag control lever (key 784)

Drag control Lever washer (key 938)

Major components Separated

Drive side

Remove anti loose screw (key 779) and fixed nut (767)

Remove Handle bolt (key 772)

Remove handle as an assembly. I have read that there is important service points to the handle I will go through this at a later date

Remove handle washer (key 661) very tight fit Prevent water intrusion?
And drive shaft washer (key 43)

Remove gear and shaft as an assembly

Showing drive shaft coat washer (key 680) and bearing (key 384) 15od 10id x4

Right side plate bearing (key 791) 10od 5id x4

Repacked bearing going in and notice the antireverse bearing still in housing

Gear going back in
Shields have been removed from bearings packed with grease screws backed out and threads greased
There seems to be a spray type protectant coating on all internals. All non-exposed surfaces are now coated in marine grade grease

Embedded clip removed and grease under

Drive shaft washer on

Handle washer on

Bearing (key 793) greased and back in drag tension knob   od 11 id 4 x 4

Now for the spool and drags
Remove pinion gear (key 917)

Remove anti reverse ratchet spool ring as  a unit

Remove spring (key 934)

Bearing (key 792)

Spool cannulation (key 919)

Turn spool over and remove 4 small screws and cover (key 913)

Slide out shaft and rear drag plate as an assembly

Small shim on plate

Drag plate washer (key 659)

Remove drag washer retainer (key 698)

And drag washer (key 940) you can see I'm cheating here
Turn over and repeat for other side

There was bits of red grease around drag washers. I don't like this so I cleaned it up and smeared with Cals drag grease
Washers greased and excess wiped off

Greased washer back in

Replace retaining ring and repeat for other side

Replace bearings and cannulation shaft

Spring plate and E clip

Cover and screws back on

Spring and plate on drive side

Pinion back on

Retaining ring out (key 936)

Bearing out for regreasing od10 id 5 x4

Bearing back in grease spread around and close cover removed for anti-corrosion treatment (key 923)

The three parts ready for reassembly

Spool back in left side

Right side on and screws back in

Drag lever on and in freespool position

Pre program gear back in

Spool screw back in

Cover on

Handle on

Bolt

Fixed nut

Forgot this washer
There are lots of mistakes made in this tutorial
I think this is all about learning I have learnt more from the mistakes than anything else. Even the stupid ones

Back out the reel seat screws

Grease and reassemble

All done I really like this reel can't wait to fish it

Still surprises me how much drag these twin drags can pull. That`s going to be a very nice, light little reel to fish. Looks like only one dog.
Good job!

Yes I was surprised at the one dog  I think the non Magnetic cast control modles have two like the Jigging master will try to get my hands on one soon :)

Jonnou,
Nice tutorial!! I sure will have good use for this tutorial. I have the F40c coming my way in just a day or two. I bought the muted/silent version. Hopefully the ARB is strong enough by itself.
Cheers

Hello Jon
I'm from Stockholm/Sweden. I received my F40c the other day. It has been used a few times by the former owner so I need to clean it and open it up to see it is all good. Nice to have your tutorial Jon as guidence. First impression is that the Transformer is not as smooth as my Maxel Oceanmax 06. A bit surprising. Hopefully some oil and grease will fix this.
Will update once I've opened the reel.

jonnou

wow I'm from New Zealand I don't think we could get any further apart.
hope the lube fixes the smoothness Issue I am Interested in the silent part Mine sounds like a ball rolling around from the dogs.
If it is a freespool  issue it would be the Magnet But I'm sure you are aware of this
Good luck  Look forward to the updates
