cleaning Penn Bakelite side plates

Anyone ever use brake cleaner ?
Ijust ran out of carb cleaner and the nearest open auto parts store is about 50 miles away. :-[

Murphy's oil soap and a toothbrush and a little warm water

Don't use brake cleaner! It can be harsh on bakelite and similar plastics. Soap and water or oil soap is perfect! Do a nice coat of Armor All on it to make it shine if you want too!
