114 - 6/0 and 9/0 upgrades

Just out of curiosity...

Does anyone know specifically why the

183-115L2 Frame is not comparable with the 115L models? 

Just wondering if minor modifications are possible to allow the L2 frame to fit the older 9/0s

I'm pretty sure its the screw pattern on the sideplates John. The China reels only have 5 screws on each side.
I think I have the frame bars from an L2. I'll check those out.
I know when Tom made the half frames. both reels would work with them.
