Hey all.....I've got a Shimano 3500b on the workbench.   I for the life of me can NOT get the bail to snap closed.   I've replaced the bail spring, cleaned all surfaces, made sure they were smooth etc...but when the bail trips, it only goes halfway.  I've elongated the spring to make it "more springy", but that hasn't done the trick.  Some new parts are on order just to see.

Any ideas?

One thought I had was that the ramp (what i call it...piece that trips the bail trip lever) that is on the housing, is worn down so much that the bail trip lever isn't  fully tripping the bail?   make sense?

These things are a pain in the arse!  Usually it is the Clutch plate assembly that needs work...not on these ones.   I've figured that Clutch plate assembly out.

Shimano was invented to ensure the fact that I like the simplicity of Penn.

I fixed it myself.    Turns out the the bail arm was "wallowed" out and the bail spring guide had too much play in it.   Replaced all bail springs with new ones, replaced the bail arm with a new one, and she snaps closed better than ever.
