Lube on New but Idle Reels

Hi,

Do you advice to flush and re-lube new but idle reels (sitting on store shelf or box) ?

Background:
I got a new spinning reel for my bass fishing and based on the info its a 2005 model.
When I got it the box was all dusty but still sealed.  No idea how was it stored and where.
The guy said about 7+ years it was in the store.  Must have been buried in their back room or something.
I did the usual checking and it still feels smooth with no abnormal sound or feeling when cranking.

Will the grease/lube be caked, dried up or lost its lubricating characteristics during its long hibernation ?

You should always do a pre use service.

I would just break it down anyway, if only to put some corrosion x in and pack the bearings properly, but I guess it depends on how comfortable you are working on your reels.   If your are a reelhead like a lot of us here and just like pulling down reels then  it's a no-brainer  :-)
