I'm always trying to compare penn reels for price and functionality but I'm often lost trying to compare different models, particularly the older models. Is there any list available that shows any meaningful comparison on all penn reels? (things like the relative size, suggested line size, rod size, line capacity, drag strength, etc...) ??

For example, on a separate thread Alan also contributed on with me, someone commented that Longbeach 67 or 68's would be a good choice for cheap starter reels for shark fishing. They also mentoned a 309. Other comments have talked about the relative value of the 49 (limited line but strong) versus surfmaster 200's (better for kayak fishing due to bushings instead of bearing? ). I have a 200 and a 49 but no longbeachs.

If no one knows of any comprehensive list, maybe someone who knows most of the common old penn reels could just provide a high level run down here?

Any help will be appreciated -

I'm not aware of a comparison table  but you can get a lot of info at Scott's aka MysticParts.com

here is a specs page for each reel (but it is not in table format)....

These guys are the  the best source for information that I know of....
