Penn 140 Newell spool

Hi everyone I recently got a Newell spool for a 140 squidder. Got home and put it in. Binds and rubs bad. Any advice?

 Have you tried adjusting the bearing cap on the tailplate ?

 Also possibly binding from the spool not properly centered. Take the headplate off and make sure the spool is properly seated prior to re-installing the headplate

Just a thought... Are you sure it is a Squidder spool, not a Surfmaster spool?   They are the same size but with different spindle lengths.
