This last friday it was decided I would go trolling for king salmon with a friend. It was a forecasted day of light winds so that was enough to cinch the days plan.  the sun came out as there were some light clouds in the morning typical of the coastal weather.

we trolled for several hours in our favorite areas and not even a bump.  then we rounded a corner as the tide was quite low we saw a spotted  seal resting on a shallow spot on a rocky spit .  he just watched us as we slowly putted around his spot.

I zoomed in to try to capture his image but the boat was rocking a little so I got this for you to view,

So we kept going along the shoreline t words the open water with the usual killer aresonal

Since we expected to find a fish somewhere we just waited,  rounding another bend was a lone eagle watching us from his lofty perch.

so we were wondering if our luck was used up when bu buddy got a kind of soft strike, soon we didnt thing is was a salmon as the are a quick moving fish, It was our first halibut of the year.  So we kept it as it was a welcome dinner for sure!

That was the only fish for the day.  but we were still ok with it,  fresh halibut baked or deep fried is hard to top.

The wind picked up a little as the sun was overhead, we were happily tired and we got to play with some of our toys, and catch dinner!

The last picture here is my favorite mooching reel, Its a hybred, all aluminum, x loud clicker that really plays a tune!
