Got email this morning to say my penn 850ss was
out for delivery today from USA (to uk) and I met
the postman (well I went looking for him lol) and
was handed my parcel, took it home, opened box
and there she was.

So first check turn handle, perfect, check clicker, perfect,
anti-reverse, perfect.

Right I can fish with it, so what's inside ;), screwed off the
closed bearing cap and saw the big screw get screw driver :) (on track), handle off,
3 screws off, lift side plate and (the main part) have a look at the
main gear ;D the original looking right at me in very good condition,
so got grease and oil and gave her a real good seeing to  :D.

All in all very happy, big tip coming here guys and it worked a treat
on the 750ss, trying to take out the main brass gear it would not
come out, penn dealer I know said put side plate-main gear-bearing
in white clear vinegar overnight, next morning I got a small drill bit
and put it in the (small end) of the barrel (main brass gear) and gave
it 5-6 taps of my hammer, yep popped out with ease, so I have done
the same with the 850ss and I know it will work, like magic.

Good wee trick.

Thanks to you Daron, Sal im in love, sad really :D :D ;)

Hi Daron, they all are beautiful reels with outstanding
build quality, if I wasn't so poor ide buy your collection
(I know not for sale EVER lol) for name your price, but
I know your love for these reels so please forgive my
silliness.

If the weather would behave itself ive tope from the beach in
mind on sunday but gale force winds and heavy rain
it does not look great, but today is only Friday so time
will tell.

Great reels for sure, no matter what is thrown at them
they still keep going.

Penn quality now is crap built to last my arse, come on penn
get back to USA made, everything nowadays (bar a few)
is crap basically, 20+ year old tackle still going strong,
thousands of bran new let alone second hand parts
still available, were is everything going guys.

Anyway im old school and I ain't budging.

Please forgive my bluntness but it's how I feel >:( :)

Alto Mare

Nice going Paul, yes they are nice reels.
Its ok to express your feelings on fishing reels, that's what we do here ;D.
Now, try to control yourself or things might get out of hand, don't ask how I know ::)

Sal
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Built to last my arse! :D
Quality has no fear of Time. ;)

:D :D Hi Sal, will put up pics of my 6500ss,750ss and 850ss
when I get my laptop back, pics are stored there.

ps if I was to really express my feelings on how I feel
on quality now compared to old school I would be banned
from here :D, so the only way to put it politely is most things
now a days (bar some off course) are crap,
there you go I said it. ;)

Learned a lot from you Sal (reading) truly grateful.

Favourite from the 3 I have would be the 750ss, don't
ask me why but there is something about it ;D
