Jeez that brass gear (original) didn't want to come out
from the bearing and side plate, tried clear white vinegar
overnight soak (like I did on the 750ss, came out no probs),
tried 30 minute soak in pure thinners, both no joy, well I was
fekin going to get it out, then on a closer eye I noticed shavings,
WHAT, this reel is 25+ years no way I said to the wife, yep it
never was serviced period, so only one thing that will have any
chance of it coming out, lighter fuel (how much is a pint guys),
let it soak for 20 minutes but swirling it around both back and front
of main brass gear and bearing, I said to the wife look at that dirt
coming out SAND and small pieces of shavings, so after I was happy,
I was ready (after 1000 taps of the drill bit and hammer) to get it
apart, tap tap about 10 times, IT STARTED TO MOVE ;D ;D
pop it came out, the dirt SAND behind that on the back of the bearing
was plus everything else a reel that was used from day 1 but never
serviced.

Took a good 15 minutes just getting the bearing out on its out
away from the side plate housing, soaked both bearing in lighter
fuel for 15 minutes (not the usual 10 min) and I showed them
to my wife, she said as I did they were like new.

Let them sit on kitchen roll just to soak up and excess lighter fuel
and 2 wee drops of oil on both bearings.

She is super smooth, lovely reel.

Next service prob couple of months 3 tops, not 25 years time
that's for sure.

Lighter fuel is cheap, new set of bearings and a seized reel
are very expensive, I was lucky as reel was used but lying
up in someone's garage a very long time without being cleaned
nor serviced before the long lay up.

So tight lines.
