Something seen in firearms enthusiast circles is called a "Bubba".  Generally, it's when an often (but not always) poorly skilled individual does a bit of "Southern Engineering" to modify a firearm to better fit their needs...an act which makes a purest, or historical collector break out in hives, and sometimes gives Gunsmiths headaches.  Aside from mixing and matching Penn parts to narrow a reel, and whatnot...which really isn't the same thing...it's something I haven't seen here on AT.  Or maybe I just haven't found it yet?  Anybody else know what I'm talking about?  Post your pics!  Let's see your best "Bubba"!  Here's a good example I just spotted on fleaBay:

Here's a old school bubba I found  at a garage sale. High tech real seat and custom thread work. It's still in one piece so I guess this bubba was worth the effort. It's one of my favorite pieces. Joe

I knew I had something.

Penn Power handle next to the "improved" Bubba Power handle.

Came on a 209.

Some plastic tube with a string wrap coated in epoxy, I guess.

Still has the green Bakelite knob inside the tube. ;D

Some good ones so far!

There is nothing like lying flat on your back on the deck, alone except for the helmsman aft at the wheel, silence except for the lapping of the sea against the side of the ship. At that time you can be equal to Ulysses and brother to him.
