;D   Any ideas how to remove cig tar from a reel?  I opened the box and literally ran outside.  I have never smelled a stench that potent, unless it was dead.

Threw the whole reel in a deep tray full of Simple Green to soak. Phew!  I'm not taking it apart until the smell goes away.

This is not your standard smoker smell, it's concentrated Philip Morris remains.
I woke today and suddenly nothing happened.

Ooof.  Hate that.  I've used rubbing alcohol in the past on non-reel things that I've got via ebay and it's worked reasonably well.  Something about it though that I've never been able to fully remove from anything.

Well I got it cleaned up. I'm replacing the drags with Ht-100's.  My son and I were discussing how the smell of cigs got into the drag discs? I finally threw them away and we're good to go. Simple Green soak and scrub.

I am a heavy smoker, and would be more then happy to take that disgusting smelling equipment off of your hands.

I get those stinkers on eBay sometimes. Zip lock bag with fabric softener sheets. Throw them in the garage for a couple weeks. I have returned item for that reason. If you want to freebase cancer, it's on you. I don't care for it!

I'll have to try the zorbx.
I won't say any more on the smoking subject because this is a fishing site. I wasn't trying to stir the pot.

Try the dishwasher trick...just wait until the little missus goes on an errand.....
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!
