believe it or not,tld25 and a silstar blue fin reel that i have both have canvas washers. tried cals, graphite powder, didnt work.so i dried them out like they are suppose to be and applied some baby talcum powder.i stopped the tld25 at 20lb drag, still couldve got more, plenty of free spool, stopped the gf also at 20lb,its got a weaker frame than the tld.i reckon if i get a bit of moisture on the canvas drags it could be battered fritters.oi! ::)

My old TLD20 was one of the first reels I ever installed an after market drag washer in. One look at that canvas was enough to convince me that the world had moved on in terms of drag material technology

Potential water problems aside, the talcum powder tip is a good one... just keep the deep fryer handy ;)

canvas has to be bone dry.  that's probably why it did not work.  alan
