Hey folks, if I was gonna be in the LA area, what are best fishing options? I know SD and SF but what's reasonably close to LA?  I must admit I'm a bit hesitant of being in the same state with Randy. I'd bring home more money from Vegas than Vintage Offshore Tackle. and i don't even want to see Jon's rods in person.... extra week to get home with a u-haul.

Thanks!

I believe there are charters out of San Pedro and Long Beach.  You may want to search those locations.

:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

CHANNEL ISLANDS SPORTFISHING is worth considering though its a farther drive than LB or SP.

channel islands: at the hour you will be driving to get there for 3/4 or all day boat , you will not have much in the way of traffic. and the fishing has been good there for quite awhile... nice variety and size available

NIce, thanks! Very likely I will be out a lot in the next few months; if i can at all coordinate that with an AT group trip I'm on it even if I have to take a few days and drive a ways. Now to convince my boss the Pelikan has samples in it not reels....

Im a native, and I definitely prefer San Pedro over Long Bch. San Pedro has two landings and the names escape me at the moment. However my favorite landing is where my favorite over nite boat the "Freedom" berths. Further South is Dana Point landing (Mark/Socalangler's neck of the woods) another good landing between LA and SD. I'll get back with you on the Pedo landing name(s). If your in the Venice/Marina Del Rey area there's MDR sport fishing with half-day trips and a couple of boats (not my first choice at all, basically for tourist and locals). Just North of Malibu in Oxnard/Ventura (aka Channel Island) is another good landing that I like named Verge's sport fishing (or is it Cisco's landing). BTW, if you got any "pristine reels in boxes" without battle scars that you cant stand just bring them along and I'll take them off your hands  ;D  Let me do some research and I'll get the names to the right locations. If your in the South Bay area of LA just stop by or give Pete a call at his tackle shop "Just Fishing" in Redondo Bch for he services reels for a lot of the sport boats down here. Just tell him Leo sent you.

Here is a list of the landings from north of LA to south of Orange County. I don't know when your coming out but sadly you may have missed the most epic year of southern California fishing. This year has been the best I have ever seen in the last almost 40 years I have been fishing here. I started fishing saltwater here at 12 and now I'm 51 and this year has been off the hook.

Marina Del Rey Sportfishing

Redondo Sportfishing

Sportfishing at 22nd Street

LA Harbor Sportfishing

Long Beach Sportfishing

Pierpoint Landing

Long Beach Marina Sportfishing

Newport Landing Sportfishing

Davey's Locker

Dana Wharf Sportfishing

On the above list my favorite place is 22nd street landing, la harbor, and long beach berth 55.  The fishing the last few months is phenomenal.

Hi Alan,

I'm actually boarding plane now but will not get a fishing trip this time. I think I will be back in January.  Btw your MO is on way to you.
