Penn 49 Dog spring failure

For a Penn 49 :
Sometimes it happened that a spring broke or is missing which is operating the dog,
There is a quick way to repair it till you can get the original part to replace it.
here is n photo of the modification for a dog spring on the Penn 49 reel.
Any small spring can be used - even the spring inside the pen that is used to write with.

Nice to see one of these reels again after 25 years!

Until about 1985, a "reel" meant a Penn 49 or 49a.   Everyone had one, nothing else was available that was any good.    I grew up with these reels.

A bit of nostalgia.
