On the welcome board? What ever

Alto Mare

thanks for sharing this Mark, yes, those could be a pain at times.
Do you mind if I move it to "Tip of the day"? so it won't get lost

Sal
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Now that's clever!
cheers for the idea

Sure what ever you think is best Sal.

Edit: I should also add after several bearings or ones particularly hard to remove the ring you may damage the sharpness of the needle. No worries though if you have a sharpening stone, fine grit sandpaper, rotary tool with a cut off disk or such you can make touch ups to the tip of the needle to make it almost as good as new.

Thanks for this.  I really struggle using fish hooks and the like.

Looks like a good solution for sure.  Thanks for the tip!  I cant wait to try it.  Next show how you hold the bearing for your operation!
The fish hook method didn,t work well for me,  if you dont mind destroying the shield!     Thanks.

If anyone wants to see what was here ask the mods what it was about or the people who saw it. I will not be posting stuff like this again. I try to take time to add to the web site, to help others as others have helped me. Too many times I have had my post's removed without explanation or moved to remote places on these boards.

Sure I have been out of line at times and in reflection I agreed, but to have something like this moved around the web site, really not a big deal, but when it happens a few times is it really worth taking the time to take pics, post them elsewhere to re size them, add them here and then add an explanation of what I was trying to show?  I'm not sure any more.

I know others have expressed the same issue in other threads and I'm not trying to say they or I are right or wrong but a explanation should be made to as why things this like this happen. Many long time posters have left this site and I see them post elsewhere so I know it is not all due to health reasons or whatever, why do you think that is?

Sal, I saw your PM and understand what you said the issue was, and I get it. Thank you. But, IMO its starting to look like a good boys club around here. Meaning if you don't know the secret handshake or whatever some are treated in a different manner than others. New people always seem to be welcome here and that is a good thing but loosing long time contributors is another.

You wanted to move this post to "Tips Of The Day" and that's cool but I really didn't care. I just wanted to show others something that worked for me to maybe help them sometime. But, for me getting stuff I took time on moved to nowhere land is a bit too much that's why I deleted the first post but it was not the first time this has happened here.

I don't know if others have looked at that page but it seems to me like the "tips" all come from very few people. Are "those" people the only ones with good ideas?

I felt welcome here and thank you all so much for that but maybe it is time to move on.

Ok, rant over

Mark, you came up with a good tip, all I was trying to do was to make sure it didn't get lost, this was the only reason I asked you if I could move it to "Tip of the day" thread. That thread is pinned and it would be easier to find.
I am sorry I wasn't able to move it there, I tried many times, but wouldn't let me. I then asked Lee to help.
It appears that Lee was having the same issues, but he did try for me and I always appreciate his help.

Being one of the moderators here, I do not appreciate your accusations.
We work very hard trying to keep things smooth around here, I believe we are all doing a great job, moderators and members .
There is no such thing as " The Big boys Club" here, Alan, "the boss" knocked it into our heads at the beginning of this great site that he doesn't tolerate that kind of thing.
We are all equal here and treated the same.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do, it truly wasn't my intention to complicate this, I was simply trying to help. I'm still trying to master some of the things here, I'm not that good with the computer.
As you already know, I've told you many times how I enjoy your knowledge here and I'm sure so does everyone else.
I cannot change your mind, but I hope you'll reconsider, this was not what you're making it out to be.
Again, I was simply trying to help.

All the best.

Sal

I moved it to where I felt it should be, due to the quality, using my new note pad.  Did I make it go away?

There was zero bad will in moving your good post, sorry you took it that way.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

remember he showed his retaining ring removal tool made from an injection needle.

I rebuild it and it works. But has a disadvantage. The needle is strong enought to go through your skin (for which it is made), but with little too much pressure on the metal of a bearing the tip bends. One more part for my cabinet....

Ill stay with fishing hooks to remove the rings.

Sal and Keta, if I ever post something that is worthy of a "tip of the day" I'd be pleased and honored. I don't think the real issue was what you guys did or didn't do.
