I have a newbie question. Iv' been reading through the threads and thought that I should begin removing the the plates off my spool bearings. First one was a breeze on the second one after removing the plate there was another black plastic looking plate so I gently pried it up an found that it was the other side of the cage. Been messin with it for a bit and thought it better to ask; Is it toast? or can i get the balls, cage, inner race, and outer race together again? Should I chalk it up to part of the learning curve and move on?

Thanks

Aloha Jim, there's a tutorial on how to get it back in, but I cannot seem to find it or remember who it was that posted it.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Bryan: Sal gave instructions on how to do it.  I know I was surprised that it could be done and more surprised that Sal knew what to do ;D.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Thanks guys for the help but I solved the problem myself. I dropped one of the balls and heard it bouncing around the floor but couldn't see it. Iv' been on my hands and knees with a magnet to no avail. Geez those are some tiny balls! just threw the rest in the garbage, Problem solved.

Thanks

Hey Jim, just in case that bearing decides to show up, check this out it might be helpful . go to Reel Rebuild Tutorials and Questions and check on help with old Penn bearings on the 2nd page. I usually take them apart when cleaning them. Sorry I don't know how to give you the direct link, maybe Bryan will show me how to one day
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Sal, if you go to your bearing tutorial, highlight the address on top of your explorer (firefox,...) and right click on your mouse and copy.  Then in the message, right click and paste.  I just tried to find it over the last 20 minutes and nothing.

Hopefully as a newbie, I can make a contribution, here's the link to the post http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=1987.msg10217#msg10217  I'll try to explain how I did it.  I found the post, then went into it and high lighted the blue title inside the post, then I right clicked and copied it. Then when I replied to this post I clicked on the little globe with the folded page above the smiley faces. (Insert Hyperlink), then Paste the link between the set of url in brackets.
