Original Ambassadeur drag

Is there a way to make the original (60's -70's) Ambassadeur 5000/6000 drag disks smooth? I know I can swap them to carbon fiber, but would rather keep the original stock disks because they are made of a hard material. The hard material fits better inside the track for the "clicking drag" design.

I've tried Cal's grease, but still get "jerky" drag.

Try polishing the metal surfaces that the fiber washers are against. That should smooth things up bit.
