Does anybody have experience or an opinion on the 2 day weekend rod building classes offered by Mudhole?

It's a basic rod building class. If that's what your looking for then that would be good. In my experience classes like that don't give you the  time to get the personal time you would get from someone who has been building rods that you know. I basically was self taught by watching U-Tube and reading books on rod building. Chad had given two books that he suggested. Custom Thread Art & Advanced Custom Rod Building that I purchased at Amazon. If you haven't built a rod, then Mud Hole is good for you. But it's not Rocket Science.

I've taken that two-day class and can say it was worth the time and effort. I came away with knowledge to build almost any rod I want to. The fee for the class also includes the equipment you use in the class. It's worth the investment if you haven't built a rod before. Not so much if you know what you're doing already.

Thanks guys. I'm going to take the class in September in Sacramento.

Never even seen a rod being built so I'm starting from scratch.

Steve: After you take the class check u-tube out for rod wrapping demos, you can pick up a lot of good info.

They are going to have a rod building class in Sacramento?  Interesting.

I would prefer paying Jon Vadney if he has the time.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

That would work for me. If Jon doesn't want the beginners maybe the take beginner course from Mudhole and the next level from Jon.

They say they give away $100 in product on a $149 class fee. Two day class.

The're not making much but buying customers.
