Hello, I am shopping for a 9' - 11' 2 piece casting rod to pair with my 501 Jiggy to use from the surf. Budget is $100+/- but is flexible.

Any recommendations?

Anyone selling?

I could build you a cool one but I was a bass pro just last week and I looked at a beautiful set of short surf rods. Penn Carnage and they were very light and should cast great. These were well made offshore of course but really nice rods. I bought a Penn Carnage 13' meat stick over in HI for Ulua fishing and it is a killer stick at any price and they are priced right. If you have a bass pro in your area you should take a look.

I am currently building a weird one. Rainshadow 7-9 one piece with a 24" detachable graphite handle. Two piece rod with one piece action.

Thanks for the replies guys. You got me started in the right direction - to BassPro Depot to browse. It's a pleasant 35 mile drive through farmland for me next day off...

Planning to use it the end of the month about 300 miles south of the border in Baja.

The Carnage II and a built 501 would be perfect for down there. End of March, have fun with the spot fin!

No ferrules at all the rod stays in one piece. Reel seat is mounted at the bottom of the rod. SS threaded inserts epoxied in the shaft at the reel seat. SS threaded insert epoxied in the graphite handle. Screws on like a two piece pool stick. Will have pictures posted in a couple days when complete.

I have a few Saber Strokers like that, only with plastic hardware. Work good as long as everything is tight.

Hey Marcq! Emcast or prevail? I have a 10,11 and 12' prevails and was kinda considering an emcast. Are there any noticable difference?
