The other day I was trolling for winter king salmon in a water depth of about 40-50 feet when my partners rod went down hard like a good fish strike.  After playing the fish for a minute or so it was apparent the fish might be a Halibut.
It took a while to get it in close to the boat, we decided not to net it and looked for a gaff,  the fish was just barely hooked and we had fear of losing it.  We were using a type of salmon plug and were surprised that the fish bit it.......  anyway we had some good eating and a great surprise....... You just never know what the day will bring!

That's great when that happens!

I dropped my salmon rig to the bottom by slipping into free spool by accident, and got bit by a halibut. So I went around in a circle and did it again!  No luck on the third try...

I love fresh halibut more than salmon.
I woke today and suddenly nothing happened.
