You have to strike when the iron is hot John,
This Venture won't last long.
I wanted this last one. ;)
900 of straight 80 mono will be the plan.
I might back it with some hollow core, to get a little more capacity.
I like to have at least 1000 yards when I fish from shore.
A 300 yard drop is pretty common.

Daron, I'd say you have all your ducks in a row. Good planning.       Rudy

I think it takes three to qualify as a collection, but my wife gave me a matched pair of Waterproof Super 50's for our tenth anni in 2006....Love that women...1050 yds of 50 lb mono....frame thicker than Internationals, they're beasts. I spool with 80 Ande for wahoo shotgun in the spread. Mated to Star 50IGFAHG rods.

Those look pretty sweet John.

Purchased my first Vintage Everol this week.
A 4/0 that looks new. Dom twisted my arm a bit and I'm glad he did.
Black plate indicates 60's to early 70's.
Of all places, it was in a fly reel shop in Vermont.
The Vintage Manual is really cool.

Somebody bought this at least 46 years ago. Maybe 50.
I hope it was made in 65, that was when I was born.
I sent Everol Italy Details.
I would like a modern handle for it.

Yeah, that is a really nice one. I had a look at it too. Pristine condition; nice box too.
I can't nail down the year exactly, but can confirm that it was made in 1965 or after.

D,
I'm glad that reel went to someone with a passion for learning, tinkering, and fishing with Everols. I agree, It was an odd place to find a saltwater reel to say the least, which is why it went mostly unrecognized. Looking forward to seeing what ya catch with it.
If Robert says it's a goodie than it is because no one knows everol better.
Enjoy it pal,
Dom

Very nice, my man. Always good to see when an artifact in pristine condition lands in good hands and history preserved. BTW I'm sending you a bag of red and white bobbers and some Gulp crickets to use when you fish those....

Some more shots.
John, I only use hot dogs for bait. ;D

That is good to know Robert. I appreciate your input. I know Paolo speaks highly of you, just as others do here. ;)

Valmont is only a few hours from the coast. There are a lot of Giant Tuna caught in N.H. This past Fall they had an 800# & 900# fish. A few years ago there was a 1000# fish caught single handed.
I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

They specialized in Fly fishing only. Not one spinner or baitcaster on their website. All Fly Reels.

You wouldn't believe the places I've found Everols over the years. Ever heard of Arvidsjaur?
