looking for some info to help me identify unmarked main gears. i'm no expert on PENN SS but i'am learning to hungry for more.

example, I have a main spin gear which thread and tighten fully on both a 16G-850 as well as 15G-9500 pivot.

the pivot screws look very similar, just the 9500 is a tad longer.

but if the 7500 / 8500 use the same gear, how could the 850 and 950 pivot screw BOTH fit the same main gear?

i tired lots of other pivot screws in the gears, and none fit except the 16G-850 as well as 15G-9500.

guess i figured if the 95 fit, it must be a 9500 gear, meaning the 850 pivot should NOT fit.

any info is greatly appreciated thanks yall

Hey Jay, no expert here but will answer what I know. The newer style pivot is shared by both, the 750/850 and the 9500.
If you place the 9500 main gear next to the 7500, it will be hard to tell them apart, both are very close in dimensions.
Sitting them upside down on a desk, the 9500 is approx. 2mm taller, this should help identifying.
As you already know, the pinion  on the 9500 is amost 4mm taller than the 750...very noticeable.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.
