Daiwa Lexa 300-400 for casting lures.

For Bait an weight I would go with a BG.

Which is better daiwa lexa or team daiwa luna?

Lexa is a much more advanced reel. More cranking power and more drag.

If buying new then yes I would get the HD. Mine is the regular and has never let me down. I've even caught 40 lb Cobia with mine.

I might have one new in the shop. I'll look today.

I have the lexa 300HSP with 250yds of 40# braid and 30# short mono leader, I dont feel like I would need more line than that.
so far, no much local fishes on the surf get too much line out from the reel
if you feel like need 50# you will get 200yds, more than enough more pier fishing I think

400 size if more like boat reel

Pier fishing on the Gulf coast of Texas he might get into sharks, I'd rather have 300 yards of 65# braid on there than 40#.

Check with Handi2 and see what he might have for you. Probably the 7.1 is more all purpose. The 8:1 is nice for surface lures.
