Also, I have read that the "Chinese" 114HLW 5-screw full-frames can be successfully drilled and tapped to accept the USA-made 8-screw sideplates . . .

The China 114H2LW or 114H2 doesn't have full frames only graphite half frames with bushings moulded in them. The 114HLW full & half aluminum frames were produced in the US before production was transfered to China.

Thanks for clarifying that, Rowdy . . . I thought the 5-screw sideplates & frames started with the Chinese-produced models.
