I need advice on how to remove the nut on the bottom of the spool drag. Someone over tightened
this nut. I can't get the jaws of my pliers hold the nut. I don't want to booger up the nut. Is there a special tool?

Those are the smoothest reel Penn ever made. Super strong too.

Being a smaller reel it's harder the get the bottom drag cover off. Not as much room. Try wrapping some electrical tape around the edges and then use some type of pliers.

The cover is very thin so you have to be carefull and apply pressure evenly. This is where it needs to be greased so the next time it will be easier to remove.

I have 2 sets of rubber grip pliers for such uses.

I see where your pliers won't fit. You can carefully drill 2 holes across from each other and use straight split ring pliers if you have them. The holes will let any water out of the bottom drag.

Thanks. I would try the drilling, but not my personal reel. Belongs to a guide. I cleaned the reel and it looks good. I just wanted be thorough and check the drag stack. Really nice reel. I am happy with my collection of my modified Battle's.
