Bill, supposedly I've got some Voodoo CP Ultra on the way which is a one-part to re-gloss entire blank. Recco to me by Jon. I'm gonna try it and will post pics; this may be a good one for you if you don't need to turn rod. It will open the door for me to get creative if it sets pretty hard.

Nice work! The color combination is just right. I admire what you did because, frankly, if it wasn't for abandoned rods like that, I wouldn't have some of the quality gear I own.

Recycling/re-purposing is the way to go.

You said a mouthful...I have a Penn Slammer I paid a dollar for out of same barrel, just needing tip, a free Shimano trevalla I wrapped new Fuji's on for $15....the list goes on. No way I'd ever pay full retail for the whole arsenal....
