Today my youngest son Nathaniel, turned eleven (11) years old, and thus was entitled to pick his choice for dinner.
I tried to get him to choose some nice fat Rainbow Trout at Publix, but he went for the steaks... Great choice!

So dinner tonight was:
Hickory Smoked/Reverse Seared NY Strips
Grilled Asparagus
Rolls -n- Butter
Birthday Apple Pie in lieu of cake

NY Strips spiced with SPG

Into the CCSV24 with plenty of hickory

Hitting internal 120' temp and ready for the cast iron

Getting a crust on, and going to 140' internal temp for Medium Rare

Grilled Asparagus

Pure Beef pRon

Money Shot

:P Wow!
WOW! Is also realizing that my little boy is just about out of his boyhood.
He makes me proud.

And this was my first time smoking steaks and the difference in taste was WOW!
Loving my new smoker.

You are fine Dad John. Nathaniel is a very well mannered boy. He knows respect. Something you rarely see in kids these days. I just wish I was there to share some of that Birthday Dinner with him. :P
Happy 11th Birthday Nathaniel! I'll see you two on the sand come May! ;)

Thanks Daron, we try hard with our kids to raise them right.

Xander went for pumpkin pie instead of cake when his birthday this year.
Choice of dinner was tacos, since that's something he can participate in even though he doesn't like the meat mix (he does a veggie/cheese/baconbits taco)

The steak dinner looks delish!
Now I'm sort of hungry...hmmm...what to do for dinner tonight...

Tell your son happy birthday!

I don't feel worthy to start my own topic in Recipes, but I love a good Steak.
Just like your Boy John, Dustin wanted Steak for Dinner. His Birthday is soon.
The way I have been working, I owed it to him. Plus Teri won't have to cook.
Ribeyes and strips. A Filet plus crab legs. Lets get it on!
Money shot at the end. ;)

LMAO, gotta love it...  Extra points for the 'Weapons' in the money shot.  ;D

Dang'it man, those crab legs look good, as does everything else.

That Ribeye was the Bomb!
Teri won't eat a regular steak, but she can't resist a Filet on the Grill. ;)
When Dustin and I get down on some Steak and Crab legs. You have to sweep the floor when we are done. :D
I did the deed and also did the dishes.
Teri is in School and I am helping when I can.

Somehow these posts are getting by me....which is good or I'd be smoking ribbies for breffast....dang  that looks good. Now, I'm Fred Flintstone on bronto ribs, but I have to say legs are about my favorite and I will garner a staff stinkeye at an all you can eat crab affair...

Daron, you really surprised me this time on the money shot
this just got outta hands, screwdrivers to eat a nice fillet?

PS: I can understand Reel X oil to add bitter taste on the potato, but are you using the penn grease as a gravy or something?
