Hello I have a question concerning service of a Team Diawa Fuego. This is a low profile casting reel that was released by daiwa about 12 years ago. I received this reel in the mail to clean and fix, as the handle moved freely backwards and forwards. Upon inspection I saw that the A/R bearing had failed, and the outer metal casing was cracked. I attempted to push the roller clutch out with the shoulders of a screwdriver and I could not get it to move. After a few attempts of this I threw the sideplate into my US cleaner with hot water and a little simple green. Although this removed a lot of grime the clutch was still stuck fast, even after more attempts with the screwdriver after being sprayed with wd-40. Also important to note is that the sideplate has a hairline crack on its exterior in the area where the clutch is nested. I was hoping to remove and replace the roller clutch and tell the owner to avoid braided line and think he'll be able to get some more good years of use out of it. Thanks for any advice.

locate a socket, or metal pin that will just fit into the outside of the side plate, and tap the roller bearing out.

I made a tool to do this but use a socket that fits the bearing and a larger deep socket to back it up so you do not damage the side plate and push the bearing out.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Usually a 10mm socket to push it out and another socket underneath to support the plastic plate.

Thanks for the tips guys! I couldn't find a socket so I used a couple of nut drivers and I think this worked even better. I had a revo s laying in the corner for months and I tried this trick on it too. Now I need to try and run down a barrel clutch that abu has never sold for this reel because I called them and they only sell it already in the side plate as a complete assembly. It says on the side F-223251

Call ABU back and ask to speak to a reel tech.  Another thing to do is find the exploded parts view for this reel, and see if it's got it's own part number.

I looked high and low for this part. Finally called southwest parts like I should have done right away.  It Seems like they have the right one for 9 bucks. A lot cheaper than the 45 dollar Sideplate the guy at Berkley told me I needed. And to answer reel man's question I had previously checked the schematic and there is no clutch listed or drawn on it.

Dawn at Smooth drag has the AR bearings for most all reels. You just need to measure them the same as measuring a bearing.
