Shimano Spheros 4000FA Bail Wire

A customer brought this reel in today. The bail wire came out of the bail arm. It is has a groove in the wire end like a pin or something is supposed to hold it in place. I know
I have had some other reels, like Penn, who have a the end of the wire like flat stamped which locks it into the bail arm. This is the first time I have seen this and wonder if anyone has seen this before. Is there a way to fix this without having to buy a new bail wire assembly?
