pflueger acron 1893 I think it was made in 1916 or later, there was 4 models all had different coloured handle, I stand correcting but I think they were Green black white & brown, cheers don.

the handles on mine are green with white (marbling)

I don't know about Pflueger, but Penn chrome was best when they first plated the brass with nickel, then plated chrome over the nickel. They did this for only a short time in the early sixties (I think, Ted (Maxed Out) once commented on this, I think in reference to the chrome on one of the special senators). As you might imagine, adding a nickel plating was more costly, so I think they ditched this in a few years, but the chrome on the reels made during this time appears to have been poured on extra-thick and lustrous.

I thought the Akron`s were made of German silver & nicle coated, cheers don.
