I want to start posting some stuff that would require more pictures. I also see some posts that have comments in between the pictures. Can anyone help explain how to do that. I figured out how to repair a Long Beach on my own when I was 13 but 20 years of using computers and I'm still clueless. I remember seeing a post about this a few years back but can't seem to find it. I would prefer using my iPad but have a laptop if needed. Thanks  Joe

Hey Joe, you need to host your photos on another site (here or Photobucket, for example) and use the link to that photo in your post so that the photo is displayed where you want it to be. See if this post from Dominick will help. If not, ask away.  http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=2349.0

Joe, as Sid said, if you want to post picture in-line with text, the pictures need to be posted on another web page, so that you can insert them by web reference (URL) in the text.   Maybe that is a mouthful...  Like Sid suggested, you can use another site like Photobucket for this purpose.  BUT, you can also use "gallery" images from this site.  If you go to Profile, you'll see a blue label to the right for Gallery.  Whatever pictures you post there can be included by reference (URL) in another posting.

Here is an example, of a photo I added to "My Gallery" on alantani.com.  If I right-click the photo, and choose "copy image address", I get the URL of the photo on my Windows clipboard:   http://alantani.com/gallery/16/thumb_16057_24_03_17_6_54_54.jpeg

Now, clicking in the message editor, on the second button, second row, "Insert Image", I get two "img" tags, one to start, and one to finish.  If I paste my URL there, it will appear an an in-line image in my posting.

Try that.  In the above case, I used the URL of the thumbnail, so it is scaled down.  Here is the URL of the original size:  http://alantani.com/gallery/16/medium_16057_24_03_17_6_54_54.jpeg  And below included in the post with between opening and closing "img" tags:

Joe and Sid, I am going to move this thread to the "technical" section.  /Joe

Here is a screenshot of what you see when zooming on a photo in My Gallery.

Note the technical mumbo jumbo below the image.   If you were to copy the "BB code" you could insert it directly in-line with text.  It already contains the "img" tags around it.

Thanks for the replies Joe and Sid.  I tried to access the gallery from the profile page but could not find it. I have posted pictures on this site. The last picture I posted was only a few weeks ago. I was wondering if maybe I turned something off when I set up my account. I would like to figure this out because i think that would be easier with the iPad when making posts from the work bench.I will also look into photo bucket because that will be more practical for fishing reports. I posted a picture from my iPad photo gallery just to see if I could find it. Thanks Joe

Joe, what I do when a long post is required, write my narrative in Word, and leave a line space where I want to insert a picture, then copy and paste the narrative to the new topic, copy and paste the Imgur code of the photo I want to insert from, etc.

Alternatively When you see text between photos, the writer has posted the pictures Imgur code, then hit return, typed the text, then Imgur code, etc.....

Lastly preview your post before you post for all to see.....takes some trial and error, but rewarding.  My first attempt at a tutorial took six hours, between rebuild and writing....Bill
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Joe, here is how to add a picture to My Gallery on this site.  As far as I know, you should have access for doing this.   In addition, you can include a picture that you posted somewhere else on the site by right-clicking that image, selecting "copy image address", and then pasting that "URL" between "img" tags in your post.

I am going to post directions for adding photos to My Gallery, later when I have more time.

Howdy pard;  I too was needing help and get it figgered out by helpers on this site,  you gotta be smarter than me,  so heres my 2 cents worth.   I found out finally how to download pictures from computer files to Photobucket.   I dont like (like Listerene) this butt it works.   after you can view some in your Photobucket Library,  open one picture.    mouse down to the last of 4 options.   for this site its the IMG-URL option...  left click it and it will turn blue.   then right click to Copy,   It will stay blue until you close or select another picture or option, (which is handy when doing multiple pictures),   after Copy then mimimize and go to your  forum here and press Paste on the line you select.  It will paste the digital code? of the picture and below it or above it you can type your script.  keep repeating your pictures and script.   when satisfied press send in your Photo Gallery post or even in For Sale pictures can be posted.
If I can help more pm me,  I had a hard time at first, and sent pictures to the Administrators here and they posted them, as I could not figgure it out now growing up with a computer.   ???  Good Luck,  cant wait to see you run with the ball! ;)
